We found the upside to downtime

Posted on 2020-05-05

Here at the Volo Auto Museum, we found the upside to downtime, and we can’t wait to show you. While we’ve been closed to the public, our crews have been hard at work crafting even more magical things to see, upgrading existing exhibits and putting out all-new displays — all with your safety top of mind.

Our museum features 33 jaw-dropping, no-touch exhibits spread over 150,000 square feet of indoor space, making social distancing a snap. And, upon our June 1 reopening (or as shortly thereafter as the fates will allow), we’ll feature a newly reconfigured traffic flow. Clearly designated entrance and exit paths eliminate two-way traffic. Signs and overhead announcements will further encourage social distancing.

Sanitation stations are in place in each building throughout our museum complex. Masks will be required for all public-facing employees as well as guests. You see, we’re mindful that today’s public health concerns aren’t likely to vanish as quickly as they emerged.

We’re also mindful that these days, perhaps more than ever in our lifetimes, families could really use a fun break. And we are so ready to provide it! On view for you when we reopen will be newly rebuilt vintage animatronic displays including the highly anticipated Showbiz Pizza Rock-afire Explosion, the King and King Kat. Although these will initially be on static display only, we’ve also got new performances prepared for our Chuck E. Cheese’s “Four Little Shavers” animatronic group, the only known functional set in existence!  Though our Show Biz Lunch Place will remain closed for the time being, its animatronic displays, including a wise-cracking set of pirates and the Chuck E. Cheese “Beagles” continue to perform and delight.

From our Duesenberg Room to our TV and movie cars, Disney Gallery and Cars of the Rich and Famous — and all of the vintage snowmobiles, pedal cars and tractors in between — you won’t believe your eyes. Not only will your family enjoy a fun, safe and memorable day, but each paying guest visiting with us in 2020 also will receive two-for-one passes good for 2021. Given that our vintage carousel and music pavilion grand opening, Jurassic Gardens dinosaur park, monster truck rides and an all-new train tour are all set to debut in 2021, you’ll want to store yours in a safe spot! Like you, we can’t wait to see our old friends again, as well as greet the new. We are keeping up with the latest public safety guidelines so that you can have a comfortable, memorable and fun experience with us. We just know you’ll be smiling. We’ll see it in your eyes.
