Volo Auto Museum makes USA Today’s 10 Best
VOLO — Add the editors of USA Today Travel to the Volo Auto Museum’s significant fan base.
Volo Auto Museum recently was featured on 10Best.com, a division of USA Today Travel, which named the local museum among the Top 10 most “jaw-dropping” car museums in the country.
“I thought it was fantastic,” said Brian Grams, museum director, noting that there are hundreds of car museums in the country. “There’s everyone’s opinion, but USA Today is pretty credible.”
The online publication 10best.com features a variety of Top 10 lists, including everything from “10 Adrenaline-Rush Driving Experiences” to “I Get Around: Revolving Restaurants Across North America.”
Volo Auto Museum is among its “May: Go Car Crazy!” installments. The feature, which can be found at http://tinyurl.com/d6modop, includes a photo of the museum’s bright yellow Dick Tracy car, among its numerous whimsical movie-related automobiles.
In fact, Volo Auto Museum is known worldwide for its sales of everything from classic muscle cars to celebrity-owned vehicles and autos featured in television and film. The museum at 27582 Volo Village Road frequently attracts film crews and travelers from all corners of the globe.
“We just had a guy here from ‘Motor Week’ who was here filming, and we had a group (of tourists) here from Russia,” Grams said.
The museum also supplied a pair of 1936 Duesenbergs used in the filming of “The Great Gatsby,” Grams said.
He added that making one of USA Today Travel’s Top 10 lists is an honor befitting the local landmark.
“The biggest thing we have to offer is entertainment,” he said. “If you go to the Petersen Museum (in Los Angeles) or the Blackhawk Collection (in Danville, Calif.), they’re there for the purists … we’re here for the everyday people.”

The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is a great, family-friendly place to spend the day in any kind of weather. Exhibits featuring roughly 300 cars are all under roof in climate-controlled buildings. And the newest exhibit hall, featuring the most kid-friendly elements of the museum’s collection, is set to open Memorial Day weekend.
Summer admission rates, starting mid-May, are $14.95 per adult, $9.95 for children ages 6 to 12, and $12.95 for seniors, veterans and military personnel with ID.
