Public invited to celebrate Elvis’ birthday with Travis Morris at Volo Auto Museum Jan. 6

Posted on 2017-12-29

VOLO — Elvis fans everywhere will mark the King’s 83rd on Jan. 8, 2018.

Lucky Elvis fans will gather a couple of days early with impersonator Travis Morris at the Volo Auto Museum, 27582 Volo Village Road.

“We have such a fun place to celebrate the King of rock ’n’ roll,” said Brian Grams, museum director. “We’re true fans.”

Morris, a dedicated Elvis impersonator with a devoted following, will give two performances on Saturday, Jan. 6 — one at noon and one at 3 p.m. Between sets, museum-goers can take photos against the extremely rare backdrop of a carefully authenticated, 1974, pink and white Cadillac Seville station wagon that was custom built for none other than the King himself.

“Finding that car, tracking down its history and all of the documentation that went with it — including a photo of it parked in the driveway at Graceland — was a really big deal,” Grams said. “We’re glad to be able to share that, and all of the other great cars in our collection, with the public every day. But with Elvis’ birthday around the corner, it’s an extra special time to check out his Caddy wagon.”

Morris’ spot-on Elvis impersonation so impressed Grams during a chance encounter a couple of summers ago that he knew Morris would be a fun singer to feature at the museum, Grams said. And during his inaugural museum performance in January 2017, Morris did not disappoint. In fact, he drew so many visitors that Grams already is preparing a bigger space for this year’s sets.

Free pink cupcakes — an homage to the King’s sweet tooth — also will be featured while supplies last. Normal admission rates apply.

The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It features roughly 400 classic, muscle, Hollywood cars and more. Admission is $15 for adults, $9 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. For other information, call 815-385-3644 or find Volo Auto Museum on Facebook.
