New ‘Volo, House of Cars’ teaser solidifying reality
VOLO — With a new, one-minute teaser to tout and filming well under way for Season One of “Volo, House of Cars” on the History Channel, the reality of having their own reality series is sinking in for members of the Grams family.
“It’s creating a lot of excitement and positive feedback,” said Brian Grams, director of the Volo Auto Museum, referring to the buzz created by news that the show is in production. “There are so many incredible stories that can be told.”
The first episode likely will key on Volo’s find of an intact 1967 Shelby convertible prototype that was said to have been destroyed. “We were able to change history with that car,” Grams said.
Indeed, the show overall will center on the treasure-hunt aspect of the nearly 57-year-old museum’s operation. The museum features an eclectic mix of rare and in some cases one-of-a-kind muscle cars, celebrity-owned vehicles, cars made famous in films and more. Six episodes are in the making for Season One of “Volo, House of Cars,” due to debut this spring.
“Over the years, we’ve been featured on other shows on History and Discovery,” said Grams, who will figure prominently in the series along with his brother, Jay, and their father, the museum’s founder, Greg Grams. Brian Grams added that it was after filming an episode with Miami-based Accord Productions for “South Beach Classics” that things started to fall together for Volo’s own show.
“It’s exciting,” said Jay Grams, who oversees the sales side of the business and spent Thanksgiving weekend filming in Florida with Brian. Jay Grams said he’s been fascinated by the number of hours of filming that go into minutes of edited tape.
“People who watch it will see a different side of our museum,” Jay Grams said. “They’ll learn what goes on behind the scenes.”
If it brings more visitors, the exposure should be great not only for the museum, but also for the village of Volo and the surrounding area, Brian, Jay and Greg Grams said. And if enough people tune in for Season One, ongoing filming will become another routine aspect of the eclectic museum’s reality.
Located at 27582 Volo Village Road, the Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It features roughly 400 classic, muscle, Hollywood cars and more.
