Restored by Hudson expert "Dr Doug"!
This is one of the pinnacles of automotive design in the post war era. It looks like a chopped and channeled custom right out of the factory! Known as the step down design the floors are dropped down around the frame. The grill was low and wide, roof line was low. It looks sleak and fast even sitting still. This one is a great example. Restored 5 years ago by one the the most respected Hudson restorers- Dr Doug (Doug Wildrick of Wildrick Restorations). When the collector that owns the car bought it, he wanted to make arrangements to have the car towed home. Doug said with confidence "you drive this car". Needless to say it made the 220 mile trip home with no issues and has continued to be a reliable car. It was recently driven an hour to Volo. It drove so nice the owner almost turned around and went back home.
Some other interesting features are the 1 year split rear window, lighted Hudson emblem and it has the Courtesy dealer emblem. "Jim Moran the Courtesy man" was the first dealer to use tv to advertise. It got him on the cover of Time magazine, the only dealer ever to make the cover.
The appearance is excellent too. The body is really clean, really straight and all the gaps line up perfectly. Has a nice even coat of black paint. The chrome and trim is exceptional. The bumpers, bumper gaurds, trunk trim, hood ornament have been rechromed. Stainless is all straight and polished. It has an accessory metal visor. hubcaps are very nice is a radial tires with no where
The interior is really beautiful. Hudson really new how to class it up. The pin striped upholstery has been redone on the seats and door panels. Headliner and rear shelf has been redone, new carpet. Dash and gauges are real nice, red plastic steering wheel is excellent.
The motor compartment is very clean and tidy. The firewall and inner fenders are all painted gloss black. The engine itself is painted and restored. Trunk is clean with a jack spare and mat.
Underside is rock solid. Misc new parts- brake hoses, springs, shocks, bushings etc.
It's just such a cool, innovative car in and out. From a collector that has only nice cars. Ready to enjoy.
