Svengoolie to thrill museum visitors Oct. 28

Wait. So, we can meet Svengoolie, enjoy a Halloween-themed magic show, dig into a grilled hot dog and some roasted corn on the cob, grab some goody bags for the kids and sit back for a guided, 30-minute train tour?

Yes, you can do all of that — and much more — this Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Volo Auto Museum, 27582 Volo Village Road, the place for Halloween fun this weekend.

“We’ve added on some activities to make it a full day of excitement rather than just for the few hours that Svengoolie will be here,” said Brian Grams, museum director. “This is also our final weekend for the train tours. You don’t want to miss it.”

With his top hat, ebony-encircled eyes and his goofy rubber chicken, the award-winning TV horror host has attracted enthusiastic fans to the museum each fall since 2012. Museum officials eagerly anticipate Svengoolie’s return this Saturday. He will sign items and pose for photographs with fans between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“He is a genuinely gifted entertainer and just a great guy,” Grams said of Rich Koz, who portrays Svengoolie. “People love him. His visits are always a lot of fun, and they frequently draw a lot of first-time visitors, who are blown away by all of the things there are to see and do here.”

Speaking of things to see and do, Dr. Ben Crazy will perform two magic shows Saturday, one at 2:30 p.m. and one at 3:30 p.m. Additionally, all Kids’ Club members visiting this Saturday will receive free goody bags with a prize and treats. Children who are not yet Kids’ Club members are encouraged to sign up. It’s free, quick and easy and offers benefits throughout the year.

The museum’s popular fall train tours will make their final treks this weekend. Tours run between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Passengers learn about the history of the museum and many of its exhibits, including the new Evolution of Travel Village.

For those who develop an appetite while wandering the expansive museum complex, the outdoor food hut will offer grilled hot dogs and roasted corn. The indoor pizza parlor also will be open, Grams said.

All of Saturday’s special activities are included with the regular price of admission. The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It features roughly 400 classic, antique, muscle and Hollywood cars and more. Admission is $15 for adults, $9 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. Click Here to Learn More.
