VOLO — No matter where families take mom to brunch this Mother’s Day, the restaurant receipts will prove valuable for those choosing to extend their celebration at the Volo Auto Museum.

Any family presenting a brunch receipt this Sunday, May 8, will receive half off admission for all female members of their party who are of adult admission ticket age (the half-off offer does not apply to children’s admission — ages 9 to 12). As always, children 4 and younger are admitted free.

“It’s our way of honoring moms, and encouraging families to enjoy a fun outing after their Mother’s Day meal,” said Brian Grams, director of the museum at 27582 Volo Village Road. “The Volo Auto Museum is a truly family-friendly place. We know those who take us up on our offer won’t be disappointed.”

On special view this Sunday through June 6 will be the museum’s extensive collection of documents and photographs pertaining to the 1996 visit of Princess Diana to Chicago. To preserve its place in history, the museum bought and displays the black Rolls Royce Silver Spur that transported Diana during that visit, one of her last trips to North America. She died Aug. 31, 1997.

Upon acquiring the Rolls, museum officials gathered numerous archival photos of the Chicago visit for a special 2007 display. These rarely have been on public view since, Grams said.

The Princess Di Rolls is among numerous celebrity-linked cars that visitors to the Volo Auto Museum can see. In addition to hundreds of classic, muscle and Hollywood cars, displays at the museum now run the gamut from vintage tractors and bikes to an evolution of transportation exhibit and rare Disney novelties.

The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Regular admission is $14.95 for adults, $8.95 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. For other information, call 815-385-3644, visit volocars.com or find Volo Auto Museum on Facebook.
