19,749 actual miles! Concourse winner.

Elite definition: A select group that is superior to the rest of a group.

Our Elite Collection is comprised of automobiles we consider to be superior in terms of significance, desirability, rarity, quality and beauty. These are cars that only a select group of privileged people will ever have the good fortune of owning. As care taker of one of these investments, you will not only see a financial return but also a more valuable return of pride and joy!

This Sport Phaeton has 19,745 actual miles since new and only a handful of miles since it's concourse restoration. It has a history including aristocrats, a high profile criminal and "barn find" intrigue. It is a genuine CCCA full classic.

History: This Packard has a very colorful history. It was special ordered by the Count and Countess of Cacem Portugal. It was also tied to one of the greatest frauds in history! Alvis de Reis, the infamous criminal was photographed and even interviewed in this car, he perpetrated the Portugal Bank Note Crisis. It was then stored in a palace in Lisbon until the late 1960s when a Navy officer bought it. News Flash: The Navy officer found the car on our site and just contacted me! It came back to the US in 1980, the current owner bought it 14 years ago from a man that owned it 35 years. It has gone through 3 restorations. The last restoration cost $188,000 and they started with a very nice car.

EXTERIOR: It certainly has an impressive presence; it is an example of rolling artwork. Up front stands a tall chrome grill with a long hood behind it. The low cut doors and open cockpit give it the sporty feel. The rolling fenders are home to dual sidemount wheels. The body is in outstanding condition, professionally restored. The paint is polished like glass. The chrome all sparkles. Features include authentic Trippe lights up front, a stone guard protecting the radiator and the Goddess of Speed ornament perched on top. It also has cowl lights and a spotlight. The chrome windshield folds flat, swings open and has a set of wing windows. There is also an optional folding dual windshield for the rear passengers. It has 6 restored wire wheels with reproduction white wall tires. The spares have optional painted metal covers and chrome bands. In back is a luggage rack and a fully restored trunk. The convertible top was restored and is wearing Haartz cloth. A full set of new side curtains are included too. To make it a bit for user friendly turn signals were carefully added front and back. An extension was also put on the tail pipe to prevent exhaust from staining the trunk.

INTERIOR: Professionally upholstered in glove soft red leather. In back it has refinished burl wood locking compartments and premium carpet. In front is a beautiful wood trimmed dash, the gauges and controls are in excellent shape. Correct laminate and aluminum floor.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The smooth running straight 8 motor was rebuilt. It's 354 ci and makes 105 hp. It's properly dated to this car, believed to be the original. All the components were restored and beautifully detailed.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk was restored inside and out. Upholstered in matching Haartz cloth.

UNDERSIDE: The underside was carefully prepped and painted. Correct exhaust, semi elliptic leaf springs and lever shocks. Bottom of the motor looks clean. Rebuilt 3-speed transmission.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and had the starter rebuilt.

CONCLUSION: This is a genuine Classic recognized by the Classic Car Club of America which entitles it to participate in their events including caravans. I said this car is rolling artwork. That's not just because of its beauty but it's also an investment!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
