PHS docs, #s match, rotisserie restored.

Extremely rare and desirable! Pontiac Historical documented, #s match throughout, body off frame restored. Only 499 Ram Air Ill automatics were made total. How many were convertibles? The common estimate is that there were 60 made, how many exist? 1 owner until 2002, he passed away and his son put the car in storage until 2018. We have the original registration and miscellaneous maintenance records going back to the early '70s. The car finished a rotisserie restoration in 2019. It lived in Boca Raton most of its life. On paper the Ram Air lll was rated at 335 hp in the Firebird, 366 hp in the GTO even though they were identical. The truth is they were actually approaching 400 hp!

EXTERIOR: Very clean rust free body. It is straight and fits right. No bubbles or damage. It has the dual scooped hood. Everything up front fits real nice. Repainted its original special ordered Goldenrod yellow. It is polished smooth and glossy. Excellent chrome and trim. Weatherstrips and window seals were replaced. New windshield. The black convertible top is in excellent shape. Reproduction T3 headlights. It is sitting on a set of reproduction Hurst wheels and Wide Oval tires.

INTERIOR: It was born with a deluxe interior which includes molded door panels, wood grain trim and comfort weave upholstery. The upholstery, door panels and carpet were replaced. New reproduction deluxe wheel. The dash area is very clean. It the original AM radio and 8- track player. Full set of original seat belts. It has a knob under the dash to open the ram air.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin # matching, correct dates, and casting codes. It has # matching, restored carb and distributor unique to the Ram Air motor. Stock manifolds, valve covers etc. It has the complete functional ram air system. The motor was gone through in 2018: Cleaned and honed the block, new cam bearings, rings, cam, lifters, timing chain and ground the valves. It has power steering and power brakes. All the components look clean and proper. Correct cadmium plated booster, reproduction hoses and clamps, Delco battery topper, spring clamp battery cables, ink stamps on firewall etc. All the metal has nice paint finishes.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb are painted slick. Inside is clean metal with a tidy spatter finish. It still has its collapsible spare and a jack assembly. New weatherstrip.

UNDERSIDE: It was body off frame, rotisserie restored. All the steering and suspension was rebuilt and detailed. They even duplicated the assembly line markings and gave it correct spiral shocks. Correct reproduction dual exhaust with a transverse muffler. New fuel system including the tank. The brake system was restored, it has disc in front. The lines, e-brake assembly and hoses were replaced. Looking up at the motor it looks new, starter is fresh. It has the correct turbo 400 trans with the 1969 tag riveted to the side of it. Completely rebuilt trans and torque converter with a master rebuild kit. Rebuilt drive shaft and a special ordered rear end with 3.55 Saf-T-Track gears. There are zero signs of rust under this car: the floors, braces, rockers are bone dry metal painted black with the correct amount of yellow overspray.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and replaced the heater core and repaired a headlight connection.

CONCLUSION: This is the same car as the Trans Am except for a spoiler and some scoops. The Trans Am convertible sells for over 1 million dollars if you can find one. I like this car just as well! This has every ingredient for a thoroughbred investment grade muscle car.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
