1946 Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane Drophead Coupe 3 Position Top
Very rare "Hurricane" Drophead Coupe. A British engineering group formed in 1919 and was best known for production of luxury vehicles and aircraft engines. Armstrong Witworth of Siddeley Deasy manufacturer of highend motor cars; after the merge of these companies the focus on quality continued with their motor car production, aircraft engines, rocket and torpedo motors and development of rail cars. Later company merged with Hawker Aviation and Bristol Aero engines and continued auto production until August of 1960. Later the company was absorbed into the Rolls Royce conglomerate for aircraft technologies and business. It is said they were intrigued by the Marmon car built in Indy and thoroughly checked out the engineering of one of these cars. Provided engines for WWII air planes for British. After the war ended, Armstrong Siddeley introduced their first postwar models; the "Lancaster: 4 door Saloon and the "Hurricane" drophead Coupe. These models echoed the names of aircraft produced by "Hawker Siddeley group" during the war. This car is a true survivor, quality built car in the United Kingdom very similar to the Jaguar Coupe. The car is all original from the black body to the burgundy leather interior and burgundy 3 position top. This post war model sports the 2 liter 6 cylinder engine with 4 speed transmission. It runs and drives with newer Firestone whitewalls. Interior luxuriously built with walnut dash and window door trim. The V radiator design believed inspired by the great Marmon automobile of Indianapolis, Indiana. Truly a rare find survivor.
