Buick was building a reputation with the Dynaflash Eight. The powerful inline eight cylinder motor boasted 141 horsepower, more than enough power to propel Buick's largest sedans past highway speed limits. The Century was on of Buick's premium models powered by this legendary engine. It was conceived as a car that was capable of reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Even the name "Century" was English shorthand for a 100 mile journey. Visionary designer Harley Earl was instrumental in the Century's design. He proposed a bevy of deluxe features inspired by his favorite Cadillac elements: hydraulic brakes, plush upholstery, Art Deco chrome trim styling, and a modern streamlined body. The Buick Century had set a new standard in value, features, and performance. Can't find your car?
